Pathum Thani (January 21, 2014): Successful cooperation in the field of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) is essential for tackling global Societal Challenges like Health, Food security or Water management successfully. The SEA-EU-NET II project decided to facilitate this process by initiating and organizing the ASEAN-EU STI Days, which is host ed by NSTDA , Thailand. The main aim of the STI Days is to offer a flexible and dynamic platform to unite a variety of different STI related events, activities, projects, and stakeholders from the ASEAN and EU countries. The STI days will be held in Thailand Science Park, Pathum Thani on 21-23 January 2014, being the first in an annual series of events.
The event is intended for researchers and scientists seeking to expand their research networks and to identify funding and mobility opportunities; STI policymakers interested in contributing to the EU-ASEAN STI policy dialogue; innovative companies looking to showcase their technology offerings and to discuss innovation policy issues; and government agencies looking to identify best practices in international research cooperation.
The three-day program is mainly focusing on the three Societal Challenges Health, Food security and safety and Water management. Dedicated scientific workshops on all these fields will be organized along with workshops on Material science, Innovation, IPR issues and Metrology. The ASEAN-EU STI Days will also feature the official launch of Horizon 2020 – the new framework program for research and development of the European Union – in Southeast Asia with high-level representatives from both regions. The STI Days will also include an event coordinated by EURAXESS Links ASEAN, in which European research organizations will present their mobility offerings to Southeast Asian researchers.
As part of the STI days a two-day (January 21st - 22nd) Exhibition under the motto " Showcase Innovation " will be organized. This exhibition aims to identify and display good practices and outcomes of the ASEAN-EU STI research cooperation projects. It will also allow the exhibitors (project representatives, funding agencies and innovative companies) to interact among each other and with the STI days’ participants in order to discover and foster new collaboration ideas and opportunities.
